Thermally induced all-optical ferromagnetic resonance in thin YIG films

چکیده

Abstract All-optical ferromagnetic resonance (AO-FMR) is a powerful tool for the local detection of micromagnetic parameters, such as magnetic anisotropy, Gilbert damping or spin stiffness. In this work we demonstrate that AO-FMR method can be used in thin films yttrium iron garnet (YIG) if metallic capping layer (Au, Pt) deposited on top film. Magnetization precession triggered by heating with femtosecond laser pulses. The heat pulse modifies magneto-crystalline anisotropy YIG film and shifts quasi-equilibrium orientation magnetization, which results precessional magnetization dynamics. laser-induced corresponds to uniform (Kittel) magnon mode, frequency determined material well external field, time set parameter. thus enables measuring properties, resolution given spot size.

Thermally induced crystallization in NbO2 thin films

Niobium dioxide can exhibit negative differential resistance (NDR) in metal-insulator-metal (MIM) devices, which has recently attracted significant interest for its potential applications as a highly non-linear selector element in emerging nonvolatile memory (NVM) and as a locally-active element in neuromorphic circuits. In order to further understand the processing of this material system, we ...

Ferromagnetic resonance linewidth in thin films coupled to NiO

The out-of-plane angular dependence of the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth, ∆H, has been measured for thin magnetic films coupled to NiO and for uncoupled control films. In the control films, ∆H is described by nearly angle-independent damping parameters. In the NiO-coupled films, however, the damping was found to depend strongly on magnetization orientation, with linewidth values comparable ...

Elastically driven ferromagnetic resonance in nickel thin films.

Surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in the GHz frequency range are exploited for the all-elastic excitation and detection of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) in a ferromagnetic-ferroelectric (Ni/LiNbO(3)) hybrid device. We measure the SAW magnetotransmission at room temperature as a function of frequency, external magnetic field magnitude, and orientation. Our data are well described by a modified Landa...

Direct detection of nonlinear ferromagnetic resonance in thin films by the magneto-optical Kerr effect.

The longitudinal magneto-optical Kerr effect is used to obtain a calibrated measure of the dynamic magnetization response over the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) profile for in-plane magnetized Permalloy films excited with high power in-plane transverse microwave fields at 1.25 to 3.75 GHz and in-plane precession angles up to about 20 degrees. The data provide a profound demonstration of the Suh...
